What is a 'spinner'?

Two metal plates held together with a bearing ring, providing easy smooth rotation. Simple, fun, addictive - and amazingly effective for developing your balance, spinning axis, core strength and contra-body checking. It is the figure skater's choice for the most specific off ice training possible. Because it is small and portable you can train anywhere, anytime.

Why train with a spinner?

Because they deliver specific training for ice skating. And no single other tool does it better. No other equipment allows you to freely rotate off the ice. This freedom to rotate has major benefits. You can practise spinning - learning how to balance over your axis. Practise correct rotation position - for back spins and multiple rotation jumps. You can practise twisting on two feet - helping you to develop your contra body checking for slaloms and 3-turns. You can use it to make all your balance drills harder - learning how to isolate your balance from rotational forces. You can practise 1 foot 3-turns and brackets - to develop balance and twisting control. The only limit is your imagination.

Who trains with spinners?

Skaters of all levels. Plus non-skaters who want to tone up their waistline! The spinner is primarily an ice skating specific training aid, but its not elitist. Anyone who is learning 2 foot turns or balances, will gain from making spinner practise a part of their daily routine. However, non skaters like them too because of the core training benefits and balance improvements that the spin trainer delivers.
